So I worked today and realized all along that it was July 1st, but totally forgot about the significance of July 1st until just now. This is the day 2nd year med students start clinical rotations, senior med students become interns, interns become residents, residents become fellows or attendings. I’ve had plenty of angst brought on by this day in the not-to-distant past, I love that it’s just another day now. I’ve had enough of new challenges going through the medical education wringer, for now I’m content to be content.

If you work hard and stay focused some day you can be mediocre like me.

Self-deprecating humor is much funnier with a 10/10 pain saddy-face avatar.

Murdered the USMLE but am now baffled by taking a psychiatric history and writing notes. Mediocre would be nice, thanks for the words, don’t want to be a bloody gloves.

When I started reading your post, I thought you meant Canada Day . Happy July 4th!

Yeah, I’d started out last year on call as floor intern, and I’ve just now woken up from being post-call from my first night as floor upper. Someone in scheduling has a bizarre sense of humor…

I work in medical transcription. July 1 is a new year for me, too. I get the brand new crop of Clinical Clerks (senior med students) dictating; spelling the pt’s name, spelling their attending’s name, spelling drug names, spelling diagnoses… Next year they won’t have time for all of that, bless them… I get paid by the minute of dictation, so it works for me, but I do feel for the MT’s being paid by the line of work put out that have 10 minutes of dictation and 20 lines’ worth of pay…
