Where strewn from room to room,
Familiar bloggers cozily lounged, Christmas spirit well in full bloom.
And as my wandering eyes began the search from the near to the far,
Sights began to unfold around me, from the mundane to truly bizarre.
Scalpel and Shadowfax sat beside each other, next to the grandfather clock,
One intently reading the Economist, the other lovingly cleaning his glock.
Hallway Four rested uncomfortably, her fat belly looking quite pale,
Eightparts doing his best to comfort her, as she threw up even more ginger ale.
I passed Nurse K and Monkey Girl, stopping briefly to say hello,
Though they didn’t really take much notice from their pit of red jello.
Kevin, MD scrolled through his Blackberry, wondering which would be more historic,
Accepting the interview with Brian Williams, or perhaps instead Katie Couric.
Emergency Emily sat at the computer, engrossed in her game furiously typing,
As Panda Bear paced more impatiently, ready for more in which alt-medicine griping.
I caught the boys of MDOD stealthily spiking the bowl full of punch,
They asked me to throw dice with them but I said no just on a hunch.
Instead I chatted up Dr. WhiteCoat, continuing still to linger,
As he finished up his story of the snowblower vs. the finger.
Then ATM stepped in, her voice absolutely quivering with lust,
While she applied the Socratic method to determine which calendar doc’s most robust.
Out of my element I looked around, catching the eye of EM Physician,
But just then Grandpa Grunt Doc hobbled in as per tradition.
So instead all gathered round, taking our places down on the floor,
Eagerly anticipating the telling of stories that we knew he had in store.
He continued to regale us for hours, his tales were truly sublime,
Until long before we were ready it had passed our established bedtime.
But before getting up for the evening there was still one task left undone,
So we sincerely bowed our heads and said a prayer for Dr. Smak and her son.
Then I crawled deep under my covers, as outside the wind started roaring,
But unbeknownst to me, far above a sleigh was soaring.
As a deep warm voice from up high, began to warmly recite,
Merry Christmas to you all, and to all a safe goodnight.

That was fantastic! I can totally picture the entire scene, from the polished Glock to the spiked punch.
One question- Who was winning the Jello fight?
PS: Amen on the prayers for Dr. Smak and her son.

Hahaha, you are very talented!
My fave. partes definatly had to be the part about Scalpel with his Glock and MDOD with the punch…and of course MG and K wrestling…and the part about me.

Make that parts instead of “partes.

I’m glad to know watching MG and I wrestle has the power to cause Scalpel to “lovingly clean his glock”. That must be a Southern euphemism.

Nurse K — Hopefully it doesn’t accidentally fire.
MG — Those watching, naturally.

Very nice. My attention span is *far* too short for the Economist, by the way.

Good work, Ten. Glad those board exams didn’t stifle your creativity. An instant Christmas classic!

Why do I have to have a pale belly? Fat? Definitely! But pale? Maybe I’ve been hitting the tanning booths. You don’t know!
Love the poem though. Me, the babies, and Eightparts/StillAPerson wish you the happiest of holidays!
