*sigh* this does happen to us all… sure… i’m just an EMT/Paramedic… but you get cocky with those IV’s, and you’ll miss that garden hose… gaurenteed… thanks for sharing that this happens to doc’s too!

I’ve become a fan of the Trocar chest tube for just that reason: you know where the far end is.

And, it’s happened to us all, with LP’s, central lines, reductions, etc.

I’ve watched our docs and NNPs put in a lot of chest tubes. Sometimes it looks easier than other times — and our patients are tiny compared to yours. A 36F? I think you could put some of our patients inside that.
